ENGINEER SHOT, HURT
A WOMAN walking along Gorordo Avenue on Black Saturday was shot and seriously wounded by two men on a motorcyle.
Kelly Ardoña, a 28-year-old electrical engineer from Minglanilla town, was hit in the torso as she walked past a pharmacy at 6:15 p.m. in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
She was on her way to meet another woman when the assailants passed by on their motorbike, fired a shot then drove off.
The motive of the attack on the engineer who works at the Tsuneishi Heavy Industries Cebu Inc. was not clear. No holdup took place, said police.
The wounded victim was brought to a hospital in Cebu City by Herbert Bilocura, a traffic enforcer. She was placed in the Intensive Care Unit.

BOY FOUND HANGING DEAD
A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was found hanging lifeless from a mango tree last week in barangay Binaliw, Cebu City.
Dante Calumping had just finished grade 4.
A neighbor Reynaldo Dionson said he came across the victim while he was gathering firewoodwith his niece and nephew last Tuesday afternoon in the mountain barangay.
They called the assistance of neighbors and the boy’s relatives to try to revive him but it was too late.
When the police arrived, the victim’s body was lying on the ground and already stiff.
There was a ligature mark around his neck where a white 80-inch rope was earlier tied but no external wounds in his body.
Police said the teenager apparently committed suicide over family problems.
The boy’s mother, a housewife, said she noticed Dante was brooding and kept to himsef in the past few days. She said her son had even threatened that he wanted to end his life./UP CEBU INTERN SEAN TIMOTHY SALVADOR
