Cotabato village councilor falls in anti-drug operations

COTABATO CITY — Anti-narcotics operatives arrested on Tuesday a village councilman in Cotabato province after he allegedly sold prohibited drugs to an undercover agent.

Director Aileen Lovitos of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12 (Soccsksargen), identified on Wednesday the village official as Mervin Delvo, 42, first-termer kagawad of Barangay Gastav, Banisilan town.

Seized from Delvo were five sachets of suspected shabu worth P4,700 and the marked buy-bust money.

Delvo agreed to sell small sachets of suspected meth or shabu to an undercover agent during the 10 a.m. drug buy-bust operation.

“He did not resist arrest,” a PDEA agent involved in the operation said.

Now detained at Banisilan police lock-up cell, Delvo faces charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
