Reuben Tri Team collars Summit triathlon crown

Reuben Tri Team overtook 1st and 2nd leg leader Team Summit to become the first-ever champion of the Summit Triathlon Team Championships yesterday at the Sugar Beach Resort in Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island.

All members of the Reuben Tri Team dominated their respective divisions to combine for 89 points in yesterday’s final leg. They had a total of 203 points, 13 points clear of Team Summit, which settled for second place.

Noy Jopson anchored Reuben Tri Team to the title after accumulating 36 points. Of his 36 points, 20 came from his third overall finish in the male division, wherein he clocked two hours, 19 minutes and 54 seconds.

Multi-titled triathlete Rochelle Tan, who was escorted by her father Tyrone to the finish line, added 27 points for the team after she finished second overall in the female division when she clocked 2:46.01.

The rest of the team’s points were contributed by Joseph Miller with 20 and Josemari “Tenggoy” Colmenares with six.

Summit members, on the other hand, managed only 75 points for an overall total of 190 points.

The exciting fight-for-third ended with NFYNEAT eclipsing Fish18 Sport by three points.

NFYNEAT finished with a total of 183 points after adding 84 points in the final leg.

Kristiane Lim was the team’s highest scorer with 32 points after dominating in the male 20-29 category with his time of 2:20.43.

Amale Mendezona Jopson showed that she can still conquer an Olympic distance triathlon by being the first woman participant to cross the finish line. She clocked 2:44.23, to win the overall female title.

Elmo Clarabal was the overall male champion as he crossed the finish line in 2:15.07.

Loveleinell Casidsid ruled the female open with a time of 3:06.22.

Jebb Lynus Cane topped the male 19-below with a time of 2:40.04 while Kristiane Lim topped the male 20-29.

Jung Cases won in the male 30-39 after he crossed the finish line at 2:29.39.

Colmenares topped the male 40-49 while Gianluca Guidicelli dominated the male 50-above category.
