Letters from Isagani Yambot

/ 04:27 AM April 09, 2012

Antonio Calipjo Go, academic supervisor of Marian School of Quezon City and a critic of public school textbooks, rummaged through his files of correspondence with Isagani Yambot upon learning that the publisher of the Philippine Daily Inquirer had died.

Go retrieved what he said was “evidence of how truly good and kind he was” and forwarded them to an Inquirer reporter.

“Despite his hectic schedule of work, activities and social obligations, he really took time and effort to respond to every letter that I sent him. That is why his loss is something that is intimate and personal for me,” Go said in a note that accompanied his files.

“At this time and place where we are, there are just a few good men we can look up to for guidance, inspiration and support. Mr. Isagani Yambot is one such person, and I will certainly miss him and remember him with fondness and affection.”
