‘Amihan,’ shear line bring rains over Luzon, Visayas

Rains and thunderstorms will affect several parts of Luzon and Visayas on the first day of March due to two weather conditions, according to the weather bureau. In its weather bulletin on Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” will affect Cagayan Valley, the Bicol Region and Aurora and Quezon provinces. The weather bureau said flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains may be experienced in these areas. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas are also affected by the northeast monsoon but with no significant impact. But Pagasa said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains may be possible in the capital region. Pagasa noted that no weather disturbances are expected in the next few days. In Eastern Visayas, weather forecasters said a shear line continued to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms to the region. Mindanao, on the other hand, will experience localized thunderstorms with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
