MANILA, Philippines — Crispin Diego Remulla, son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, took his oath of office as Cavite’s 7th District representative during the House of Representatives session on Tuesday.
The younger Remulla took his oath before Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
Remulla, who won in the special elections held last Saturday, would occupy the seat vacated by his father, whom President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed as secretary of the Department of Justice.
The younger Remulla got 98,474 votes out of the 149,581 voters who came out to cast their choice. The other candidates were Jun de Sagun who got 46,530 votes, Lito Aguinaldo 1,610 votes, and Mike Santos 1,068 votes.
The turnout for the special elections was 42.11% of the 355,184 total registered voters from Cavite’s 7th District, which encompasses the municipalities of Amadeo, Indang, Tanza, and Trece Martires City.
