BOC, PDEA seize P324,000 shabu in Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines — An estimated P324,000 worth of crystal meth or shabu, was seized in Pampanga from a shipment that was declared as photographs, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Tuesday.

The BOC – Port of Clark and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested the claimant of the said consignment on Thursday, February 23 in the town of Masantol.

The bureau said the contraband was discovered when its personnel were examining the shipment from California, United States on Tuesday, February 21.

Three envelopes containing shabu were found when the package was subjected to K9 inspection, x-ray scanning and physical examination procedures, it added.

A controlled delivery operation was then conducted in the consignee’s address, which led to the arrest of the claimant who was not identified by the BOC.

A controlled delivery, according to the Dangerous Drugs Board, is an investigative technique that allows the delivery of an unlawful or suspect consignment to be used as a basis for the arrest.
