LUCENA CITY – A former drug convict was arrested again with his associate and yielded more than P52,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth), in a buy-bust operation here Tuesday morning (Feb. 28).

Police Lieutenant Colonel Erickson Roranes, Lucena police chief, in a report said anti-narcotics operatives nabbed Mark Anthony Vargas, 41, and Marian Magbayao, 22, at around 6:40 a.m. in Barangay (village) 10.

The suspects were found in possession of six plastic sachets of meth with a street value of P52,020.

The report said Vargas had a previous drug case but did not state why and when he was freed.

He is now included on the drug watchlist as a street-level pusher while Magbayao was classified as a rookie in the illegal drug trade.

The suspects were detained and are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
