Sen. Risa Hontiveros has again reminded the public to shun job offers for customer service agents in Cambodia and Myanmar, citing the plight of eight Filipinos who were trafficked in Cambodia as cryptocurrency scammers. She said these job offers were part of a scam involving Chinese syndicates. “While we as a nation are exerting efforts so that no Filipinos will have to leave the Philippines to earn a living, I also want to call on our countrymen not to apply to job posts that are looking for customer service agents in Cambodia or Myanmar, because that leads to crypto scamming. “Let’s all work together so that no Filipino will fall victim to this scam again,” Hontiveros said. “It gives me great relief that they will finally be with their families again,” she said. Hontiveros made the call as she met the eight overseas Filipino workers upon their arrival in Manila after they were trafficked into Cambodia to work as cryptocurrency scammers.
