MANILA, Philippines — The eastern section of Luzon may expect cloudy skies with rain due to the northeast monsoon, or locally “amihan”, on Monday while the rest of the country may see fair weather conditions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Specifically, weather specialist Obet Badrina said in a public forecast that Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with rain due to the northeast monsoon.
“Malaking bahagi ng silangang Luzon, ay makararanas po ng posibilidad ng mahihinang pag-ulan at maulap na panahon ngayong araw dulot ng hanging amihan,” he said.
(Big part of eastern Luzon will experience the possibility of weak rain and cloudy skies today due to the northeast monsoon.)
Badrina also said that Mindanao and the eastern portion of Visayas will have fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms this Monday.
Similarly, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may anticipate a generally fair weather condition despite the probability of partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rain likewise due to the northeast monsoon, according to Badrina.
Still because of the northeast monsoon’s dominance, Pagasa raised a gale warning over the following seaboards:
- Batanes
- Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
- northern coast of Ilocos Norte
- Isabela
- Aurora
- Quezon including Polillo Islands
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Catanduanes
- Albay
- Burias Island
- Sorsogon
- Metro Manila
- western coast of Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island
- Oriental Mindoro
- Marinduque
- Romblon
- western coast of Palawan
- Kalayaan Islands
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- eastern coasts of Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands
The state weather service said the coasts of these areas are forecast to have rough to very rough seas with 2.8 to 5.0 meters of waves.
“Fishing boats and other small sea craft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” Pagasa warned.
