Feb. 28 classes, work in Albay town suspended for Cagsawa Fest

LEGAZPI CITY – Work in government offices, classes in private and public schools will be suspended on Tuesday, Feb. 28, with the culmination of the Cagsawa Festival in Daraga town in Albay province.

Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo said the suspension would allow the public to join and witness the Cagsawa Festival Street Presentation, one of the highlights of the festival, that would start from the town’s covered court to Bicol University Sports Complex.

The festival that started on Feb. 1, featured sports events, musical and dance competitions, fashion show of local artists, beauty pageants and other activities.

The month-long festival commemorates the violent eruption of the Mayon Volcano in 1814 which destroyed Cagsawa Church.
