TACLOBAN CITY — Three persons were hurt after their vehicle hit the railings of the famed San Juanico Bridge on Friday.
Based on the report of the local police of Basey town, Samar, the vehicle, a Toyota Hilux, had a steering malfunction.
Injured were Richard Malbas, 49, a village councilor of Amandayehan, Basey, Samar, and his passengers Elvis Omirada and Val Badajos.
The road incident happened at about 9:49 a.m. after the driver noticed that their car’s steering wheel was not working.
The driver stepped on the brake but the vehicle swerved and hit several railings of the bridge.

The passengers sustained injuries due to the incident and were brought to the Eastern Visayas Medical Center in Tacloban City.
This is not the first time that a vehicle met an accident on the bridge that connects Leyte and Samar islands.
Last August 15, 2019, a truck carrying liquefied petroleum gas almost fell into the waters after it hit several railings of the bridge.
