MANILA, Philippines — Rep. Jeffrey Soriano of the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) party-list group has resigned from his post in the House of Representatives.

House Majority Leader and Zamboanga City Rep. Mannix Dalipe made the announcement during the session on Wednesday, citing Soriano’s letter to Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez informing him about the resignation.

While Dalipe did not bare Soriano’s reasons, he called on the House to accept the lawmaker’s resignation.

It was not discussed who will take over the ACT-CIS seat in the House, which is now left vacant following Soriano’s resignation.

During the 2022 polls, ACT-CIS dominated the party-list race for the second time in a row as it garnered a total of 2,111,091 votes.

The group’s nominees, in order, are former ACT-CIS Rep. Eric Yap’s brother Edvic, Senator Raffy Tulfo’s wife Jocelyn, Soriano, former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo and Effie Vanessa Ynson.

Earlier, Brian Yamsuan had also taken his oath of office as the new Bicol Saro party-list representative after his predecessor, Nicolas Enciso VIII was expelled from the group, subsequently creating the vacancy.

Yamsuan had previously attempted but failed to clinch a seat in the 19th Congress as the first nominee of the Lunas party-list.
