MANILA, Philippines — Three Adopt-A-Park project sites were unveiled in Makati City on Tuesday.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the local government of Makati unveiled the three parks: EDSA-Buendia Park, EDSA-Pinagkaisahan Park, and Magallanes Interchange Phase A-Mini Park.
“These parks could give the residents [of Makati] the opportunity to spend quality time among members of the families and communities,” MMDA acting chairperson Don Artes said in a statement.
Makati’s Department of Environmental Services designed the three parks with a combined lot area of 3,000 square meters.
The parks also have landscaping designs and hardscape features, the MMDA said.
City Administrator Atty. Claro Certeza expressed his gratitude to the MMDA for its initiatives to provide open spaces in the city.
On behalf of City Mayor Abigail Binay, Certeza remarked: “We wish to express our gratitude to the MMDA for this wonderful project. We will do our best to protect and preserve these beautiful parks for the benefit of my fellow Makatizens.”
The Adopt-A-Park project was conceptualized in 2021. It aims to develop under-utilized parks in each local government unit in Metro Manila by boosting their usability and transforming them into functional green parks. — Mae Anne F. Bilolo, trainee
