Marcos calls for ‘quiet reflection’ on Ash Wednesday
MANILA, Philippines — As the country celebrates this year’s Ash Wednesday, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos for “quiet reflection” on the event.
“We pray for our nation’s quiet reflection this Ash Wednesday,” he said in his message.
“As we prepare for the season of Lent, may the love of Christ inspire us to endure and faithfully continue our service to others,” Marcos added.
Ash Wednesday is the first day of the liturgical season of Lent.
It falls six and a half weeks before Easter, beginning the Lenten season of preparation for Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday.
