FIRE  and angel dancers provides powerful background in the fight scene between angel Gabriel and Lucifer in this year’s Sugat Kabanhawan in Minglanilla town in south Cebu.

Despite struggling with budgetary concerns, Victor Cuenco, director of the Minglanilla play,  spruced the fight scene with back-up dancers that reflects the message of the fight between good and evil.

Cuenco said that they would’ve wanted to have a machine that would carry the actors playing angel Gabriel’s role and another playing Lucifer’s role flying up in the air during their fight scene but they didn’t want to risk being questioned again by the Commission on Audit (COA) for overspending on such activity.

I would have wanted to bring in mechanical equipment for the fight scene, but it would entail more cost and we risk being questioned by the COA, Cuenco adds.

In the afternoon, Sugat Kabanhawan Festival, “canned music,” will substitute live bands to save on cost.

“But despite it, the performance promises to be more grand as the nine contingents participating in the festival have enlisted the best choreographers in the province,” explains Cuenco.
