MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has named Brian Yamsuan as the first new nominee of the Bicol Saro party-list, which is entitled to one seat in the House of Representatives.

The Comelec said Tuesday that it had issued a certificate of proclamation to Yamsuan as Bicol Saro’s new first nominee.

Citing a letter from the lower chamber dated Feb. 15, the poll body said Nicolas Enciso VIII, who previously represented the Bicol Saro in the 19th Congress, had been expelled from the group.

This, it noted, is “a ground for his removal from office and in effect, created the vacancy.”

During the 2022 polls, Yamsuan attempted but failed to clinch a congressional seat as the first nominee of Lunas party-list.

Yamsuan worked as a media consultant to then-Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. during the administration of President Benigno Aquino III.
