MANILA, Philippines — A tourism rest area is set to be built in Roxas, Palawan, as the Department of Tourism (DOT) led the groundbreaking for the project on Friday.
According to the DOT, the tourist pit stop will consist of “a clean restroom, a visitors’ lounge, and a pasalubong center to support” local micro, small, and medium enterprises.
The tourist rest area will be accessible to travelers on a road trip to other Palawan towns, El Nido and San Vicente.
The project is in partnership with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.
The Roxas Municipality is an hour away from San Vincente, two hours from Puerto Princesa, and three hours away from El Nido.
The Roxas tourist pit stop “is the 10th Tourist Rest Area identified by the DOT under the Marcos Administration.” — MJ Soriano, trainee
