A group of environmentalists started the ball rolling at the Cebu City Council on their proposal to implement a road revolution in the city.
Yesterday about 50 environmentalists on bicycles converged at the Plaza Independencia and then proceeded to the City Hall to show their support to their road revolution proposal to be discussed by the City Council.
The proposed road revolution ordinance aims to divide the streets of Cebu City into 30 percent sidewalks, 30 percent bicycle lanes, 30 percent for transport vehicles and 10 percent to be made into an edible garden.
The City Council, however, referred the draft ordinance to the committees on law and ordinance, and to the committee on traffic and transportation.
This is a victory for road revolution and for Cebu City as well,” said Vince Cinches, one of the organizers of the road revolution and director of the 350.org.
The City Council also invited the group to attend on July 20, which is the tentative schedule of the public hearing of the proposal.
