39 aftershocks rock Masbate following magnitude 6.0 earthquake

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 39 aftershocks followed the magnitude 6.0 earthquake that struck Masbate province in the early hours of Thursday, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

As of 5:00 a.m., 19 of these 39 aftershocks are plotted while five were felt, said the NDRRMC.

According to the NDRRMC, these aftershocks’ magnitudes range from 1.6 to 4.2.

No major damage has been reported, said the NDRRMC, but local disaster response units are still assessing the damage.

Classes and work have been suspended for the entire province.
