MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Wednesday announced that it arrested Buldon, Maguindanao’s most wanted fugitive.
The CIDG said Cipriano G. Espolong was apprehended through an intensified flagship program, ‘Oplan Pagtugis,’ on Monday morning.
The arrest was made on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Josefino Bael of the 9th Judicial Region, Regional Trial Court Branch 31 on February 21, 2017, in Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay, with no bail recommended for violation of three counts of rape.
Espolong was brought to the CIDG Regional Field Unit Autonomous Region for documentation and proper disposition.
“Walang pinipiling panahon at pagkakataon ang inyong CIDG sa pagpapatupad ng pinaigting na operasyon laban sa mga kriminal. Patuloy naming tutugisin ang may sala at bibigyang hustisya ang mga biktima ng pananamantala,” CIDG Director Brigadier General Romeo Caramat Jr. said in a statement.
