BACOLOD CITY — A 78-year-old grandmother was hacked to death at Sitio Pisong, Barangay Buluangan, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday, Feb. 8.
The victim was identified by Angelina Asugan Escorial, while the name of the suspect was withheld for being a minor, the police said on Thursday.
Police investigation showed that the victim reprimanded the 17-year-old suspect after he struck her dog with a bamboo pole.
The suspect got angry and hacked the victim multiple times using a sharp-bladed weapon. The victim suffered hack wounds in the different parts of her body and one on her head, the police said.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered at the Buluangan Barangay Hall and was turned over by the police to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
