MANILA, Philippines — Operations of modernized jeepneys may resume on Saturday in Cubao, Quezon City after regulators’ inspection of the fire-hit Araneta City Bus Station showed their terminal at the site was not damaged.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the administration of the Araneta City Bus Station jointly checked the burned remnants of the facility, which was razed by fire on Thursday.
The fire left P245 million worth of damage, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Subsequently, the management of the Araneta City Bus Station suspended operations affecting even the modern jeepneys which have a terminal there.
“Sa ginawang joint site inspection kanina ng LTFRB at pamunuan ng Araneta City Bus Terminal, maaari ng bumalik sa pamamasada ang modernized jeep simula bukas, araw ng Sabado, Pebrero 11,” the LTFRB said.
(Based on the joint site inspection earlier conducted by the LTFRB and the management of the Araneta City Bus Terminal, modernized jeeps can begin operations starting tomorrow, Saturday, February 11.)

According to the LTFRB, the terminal of the modern jeepneys in the facility was not damaged so they don’t need to relocate.
The fire that hit Araneta City Bus Station reached Task Force Bravo alarm, the 6th level in the BFP’s fire alert system. Two people were hurt from the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the BFP.
