Zamboanga Sibugay Rep. Wilter Palma has filed a bill requiring the setup of resting lounges for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in international airports. In filing House Bill No. 7065, Palma noted that due to lack of funds for hotel accommodations, a lot of OFWs are forced to sleep on benches at airports while waiting for their flights. According to Palma, his proposed measure seeks to provide such respect and treatment that OFWs so deserve by establishing resting lounges for OFWs in every airport with the necessary facilities and amenities such as charging stations, complementary snacks and drinks; shower facilities and comfort rooms; sleeping quarters; and TV monitors to track flight arrivals and departures. —Jeannette I.
