Navotas City brings home seal of Good Financial Housekeeping
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has awarded the city government of Navotas with the 2022 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH).
City Mayor John Rey Tiangco said in a statement on Wednesday that the seal of GFH serves as “validation of the city’s efforts to deliver programs beneficial in serving our constituents by spending our finances with transparency.”
“We owe this recognition to our city government employees for their continued commitment to providing quality public service, and to all Navoteños for their unwavering support of our brand of governance,” he added.
A local government unit that passes the GFH complies with the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP) of Local Budget and Finances, Bids, and Public Offerings.
Receiving the GFH also entails an unqualified or qualified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA) of the immediately preceding year,
For seven consecutive years, Tiangco said that Navotas had received COA’s Unqualified Opinion, the highest mark it can give a local government.
Furthermore, the city similarly earned the agency’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the previous year.
The GFH is a component of the SGLG along with Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business Friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, and Culture and the Arts, and Youth Development.
