MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,012 new CO(VID-19 infections were registered by the Department of Health (DOH) from Jan. 30 to Feb. 5, lower than the 1,206 cases recorded the previous week.
The DOH’s latest weekly COVID-19 bulletin reported a daily average of 145 illnesses, down 16% from 172.
The number of active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions dropped to 388 since none of the new cases were critical or severe.
Eighty-five new deaths, however, were added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll, which is currently at 65,851 as of Feb. 5, based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker.
The DOH said eleven of these newly-added deaths occurred in the past two weeks, while the rest were backlogs.
The number of deaths is higher than the previous week’s 74, with only six in the two weeks prior.
Despite the lower number of infections, the department said that the non-ICU utilization rate slightly increased from 19.5 to 19.6 percent, as well as ICU bed utilization from 14 to 14.2 percent.
Meanwhile, 73,846,307 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (94.55 percent of the target population).
After 46,442 inoculations, 21,390,648 people have booster doses.
Based on DOH’s online tracker as of Feb. 5, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,073,826 with 3,998,597 recoveries and 9,378 active cases.
