Alleged killer mauled to death in Calamba City
LUCENA CITY – A man had been shot and killed in his sleep but his assailant died later at the hands of village watchmen and irate residents in Calamba City in Laguna province on Saturday night (Feb. 4).
The Police Region 4A in a report said Randy Perez, armed with a handgun, barged into the house of Roilan Ilao in Barangay (village) Lawa around 11 p.m.
Perez repeatedly shot Ilao who was sleeping inside a bedroom with his live-in partner Marites Sulit.
Ilao died on the spot but Sulit was left unharmed.
When he was about to escape, Perez was met by a group of responding barangay tanods (village watchmen). The report said he “violently resisted” arrest.
The barangay authorities, who were joined by other irate villagers, were forced to attack Perez. Perez died while being taken to the hospital due to severe injuries.
The police are conducting further investigations.
