LUCENA CITY – An alleged high-value target in the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign was killed in a buy-bust operation conducted by policemen in Calamba City in Laguna province on Saturday, Feb. 4.
The Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police said Roi Dominique Urbiztondo sold shabu (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer during a drug transaction around 9:34 p.m. in Barangay (village) Bucal.
An armed encounter ensued after Urbiztondo reportedly pushed the poseur buyer and shot him with a handgun when he sensed that he was dealing with a police agent. The suspect missed his target and the agent was unharmed.
Another policeman was forced to return fire and hit the suspect. The wounded Urbiztondo died while being taken to the hospital.
The report did not state the volume and street value of the meth that was recovered from the slain suspect.
