In a fit of jealousy, a husband stabbed dead his wife then attacked the woman’s alleged paramour in barangay Yati, Liloan town, northern Cebu.
Ferdinand Iglesias, a habal-habal driver, fled after the attack.
Police said Iglesias was furius when his 41-year-old wife, Susan, admitted to him that she and a married neighbor Fidelito Gonzales, 39, had a relationship.
Gonzales’ wife is also named Susan.
Marie Reina, the victim’s 19-year-old daughter, told police that she heard her mother shouting for help at 1:30 a.m. yesterday.
The daughter ran to her parents’ room and saw her knife-wielding father standing in front of her mother, who was lying bloodied on top of the bed.
The woman died of multiple stab wounds.
Ferdinand then went to Fidelito’s house and was heard shouting “Patyon tika! (I will kill you!)” while knocking on the door.
When no one opened the door, Ferdinand shattered the window’s jalousie blades and entered the house.
Once inside, Ferdinand attacked Fidelito with a bolo.
Fidelito’s 47-year-old wife tried to stop Ferdinand but the angry neighbor bit her in the left thigh.
Ferndinand then fled.
Responding policemen recovered a five-inch kitchen knife and an 18-inch bolo wrapped in black rubber in the crime scene.
SPO2 Marcelino Servilla said Ferdinand and his wife had been fighting about the alleged illicit affair.
Fidelito’s wife told police that her husband had also confided to her about his affair with the neighbor’s wife.
Fidelito, who sustained multiple hack wounds in the body, and his wife were taken to a Cebu City hospital.
