LUCENA CITY – Military soldiers rescued a wounded New People’s Army (NPA) rebel after being left behind by his comrades following their running gun battle with government forces in Quezon province since Jan. 27.
In a report Monday (Jan. 30), the 85th Infantry Battalion said soldiers found the injured communist guerrilla, identified only as “Ka Arci,” 59, at dawn near the encounter site in Barangay Barangay Huyon-Uyon in San Francisco town.
The report did not provide further information on the wounded rebel, who is now in stable condition while recuperating at the local health center.
Lt. Colonel Joel Jonson, 85th IB commander, renewed his appeal to the remaining communist guerrillas to surrender and return to the mainstream of society. INQ
