Elderly farmer drowns in Quezon river

Several towns in Quezon province suspended classes at all levels in public schools due to continuous rains motorcyclist accident

LUCENA CITY — A 62-year-old farmer, who was searching for his missing carabao, drowned Sunday while crossing a river in Tiaong town in Quezon province.

Crisanto Amador, and Joan Amador, 37, were searching for the lost carabao in Barangay San Jose when the incident happened at 1:55 p.m., according to the Quezon police.

Joan told investigators that they found the carabao on the other side of the Kibkiban River in Barangay San Agustin.

The two crossed the river separately to reach the other side, but Crisanto accidentally slipped and plunged into the deeper area of the river.

The search-and-rescue team recovered the body of Crisanto floating in another part of the river 40 minutes later.
