Pagasa: Overcast skies, rains expected due to shear line, ‘amihan’

MANILA, Philippines — Rainy weather is forecast in the Visayas, Mindanao and possibly the Bicol region and Palawan until Wednesday as a result of the shear line, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Base sa pinakahuli nating datos, hanggang Miyerkules magiging maulan pa rin sa Visayas, Mindanao, maaring maapektuhan din ang Bicol at Palawan,” said Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina.

(Based on our latest data, it will be rainy in the Visayas, Mindanao, and possibly the Bicol region and Palawan.)

Badrina added that the shear line, or the weather system forming when cold and warm winds converge, will bring cloudy skies and  scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Monday to the entire Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga and Davao regions.

The northeast monsoon or amihan, on the other hand, will affect all regions in Luzon.

Cloudy skies and rains are expected in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol region, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque and Romblon.

While also affected by the cold winds blowing from Siberia, fair weather is expected in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and possible rain showers.
