ANGELES CITY — Two Nigerians yielded some P1.7 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) after they were arrested in a buy-bust operation in this city the early morning of Saturday, Jan. 28.

The Police Regional Office 3 identified the suspected drug peddlers in a statement as Chekwbe Nnamani Sunday, alias “David,” 28 and a resident nearby Mabalacat City; and Ifeanyi Augustine Chinweuba, alias “Fanny,” 33, who resides at Sampaloc, Manila.

Central Luzon police director Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen said the duo was apprehended after they tried to sell illegal drugs to undercover police officers at the transport terminal of a mall near the city hall in Pulung Maragul village at around 12:10 a.m.

Operatives also recovered the marked P1,000 placed atop the nine pieces of “boodle” money (play money) used in the sting operation.

In a statement, Pasiwen said a further investigation is being conducted to find out if the suspects are linked to the West African Drug Syndicate (WADS).

“We will continue to conduct intelligence operations on drug dealers and users, both foreign and local to eliminate the supply of illegal drugs across the region,” he added.

The Nigerians are facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The Angeles City police said the operation was properly coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
