Niembra is new Army 10th Infantry Division commander
MAWAB, Davao de Oro — Major General Jose Eriel Niembra took his oath as the new commander of the Philippine Army 10th Infantry Division (10ID) on Friday afternoon at Camp General Manuel T. Yan Sr. here.
The turnover ceremony was presided over by Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., commanding general of the Philippine Army.
Niembra replaced Maj. Gen. Nolasco Mempin retired at 56 after 36 years in service.
Before his appointment, Niembra, a native of Polomolok, South Cotabato, served as Inspector General of the Philippine Army from August 2022.
He also served as Chief of the Intelligence Service from July 2020 to August 2022, commander of the Presidential Security Group from April 2018 to January 2020, 701st Infantry Brigade commander in Davao Oriental from January to July 2020, and 58th Infantry Battalion Commander from October 2013 to March 2016.

Brawner lauded Mempin for leading the Army to rid the Davao region of the communist insurgency.
Brawner noted that the region’s five provinces have been declared as insurgency-free.
