MANILA, Philippines — Starting February 1, small pets can ride Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) trains with their owners.
This was announced on Thursday by LRT Authority (LRTA) administrator Hernando Cabrera, saying the move is aimed at making the train system “pet-friendly.”
“Beginning Feb. 1, pwede nang magdala at magsakay ng ating mga pets sa mga station at tren ng LRT-2,” he said in a public briefing.
(Starting Feb. 1, pets are allowed at LRT-2 trains and stations.)
Pets should be fully vaccinated, placed inside their carriers or cages, and should wear diapers when onboard the trains.
Only small pets are also allowed, Cabrera said.
Currently, the LRTA is distributing information materials and briefing their security personnel about the new policy that will be implemented.
“Ang objective lang naman natin dito si gawing pet-friendly ang ating sistema,” the LRTA official said.
