Lawyer, court sheriff shot and wounded while serving demolition order in Palo, Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY — A lawyer and a court sheriff were shot and wounded by a man while serving a demolition order in Palo town, Leyte on Wednesday morning.

Lawyer Alexander Lacaba, 60, and Adolfo Petilla, 59, a court sheriff assigned at the Regional Trial Court Branch 43 in Tacloban City, sustained gunshot wounds on the foot and spine, respectively.

Both were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

Reports from the regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) based in Palo town, disclosed that at about 8 a.m., the victims, joined by some members of the local police, served a court order to demolish a property located in Barangay Cavite West, Palo.

The suspect, Conrado Boren Sr., 67, suddenly appeared and fired towards the group using a .45 caliber gun.

The policemen immediately arrested Boren.

A case for two counts of frustrated murder and a violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act, will be filed against the suspect.
