CITY OF CALAPAN — An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) voluntarily surrendered on Tuesday, Jan. 24, to police in Abra de Ilog town in Occidental Mindoro province, according to a report from Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (Mimaropa) police.

Police said Florentino Flores, 69, a member of “NPA in the Barrios,” surrendered at about 10 a.m. without a firearm to Police Captain John Aldrin Ojado, officer-in-charge in 402nd Battalion Mobile Company Headquarters in Barangay (village) Poblacion. Police from the towns of Mamburao, Paluan, Sta. Cruz and the 2nd Occidental Mindoro Provincial Mobile Force Company also assisted in the surrender.

A farmer and a resident of Sta. Cruz town, Flores will be assisted in processing the Enhanced Comprehensive and Local Integration Program, according to police.
