ANGELES CITY — The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president has encouraged more public-private sector partnerships in protecting and rehabilitating the environment.
CBCP president Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of the Diocese of Kalookan said the advocacy “goes beyond the Catholic Church.”
“Since the concern for the Earth, our common home, is shared by all religions and Christian denominations, it is an advocacy that can serve as the basis for the promotion of ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue,” said David.
He made the remarks in a video message congratulating the Abacan River and Angeles Watershed Advocacy Council, Inc. (ARAW-ACI), the Aeta group Kaap-Ka and the Angeles City government for their partnership since 2019 and for engaging 12 private groups in greening 500 hectares in the city’s watershed in Barangay Sapangbato and for their Subli 2023 environmental campaign.
Subli is a year-round information and education campaign, according to Renato S. Tayag Jr., ARAW-ACI president.
“It creates awareness among youth about water security, reforestation, climate change action, and the rehabilitation and development of the Angeles Watershed in Barangay Sapangbato.
Subli will hold in-person public activities, traditional and social media information drives, and school caravans starting on February 1. INQ
