MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. dismissed the existence of a plot to remove retired professor Clarita Carlos as national security adviser (NSA).
Carlos earlier claimed that there was a conspiracy by unnamed persons to remove her as NSA.
The President said however, that Carlos just did not enjoy her time in the Cabinet.
“I kept telling her, I don’t really think so, because they do not. And I guess she just found it too much na hindi niya — she didn’t enjoy her time in government,” Marcos told reporters on Friday.
Carlos was replaced as NSA by former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief Eduardo Año.

“She didn’t enjoy her time in government, which is, you know, if we think about it, it’s not really surprising because that’s not her natural habitat. Her natural habitat is the academe, and so now, she will be in a think tank which is perfect for her,” said the President.
The Presidential Communications Office earlier said Carlos will be pursuing her scholastic endeavors.
Carlos will be joining the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department, which provides technical services in the formulation of national economic, fiscal, and social policies for the lower chamber.
