2 missing fishermen found dead in Camarines Norte

A tricycle driver was arrested for illegal drugs during a search operation in Capalonga town in Camarines Norte early Monday, Dec. 12.

LEGAZPI CITY — The two missing fishermen in Mercedes town in Camarines Norte were found dead on Thursday and Friday, said authorities.

The body of Alex Toyado was found around 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in the coastal waters off Daet town.

Alfie Hernandez, team leader in the operations section of the Mercedes municipal disaster office, said in a report that three children found the victim’s body in the area. His son identified the body.

On Thursday, Jan. 19, the body of Jomar Alcaide was recovered around 2:30 p.m. about a kilometer from Canimog Island in Mercedes.

The two victims went missing around 11 a.m. on Monday after a fishing boat capsized due to the waves.

Earlier, Gremil Alexis Naz, spokesperson for the Office of Civil Defense Bicol, said the other 10 crew were rescued. INQ
