Rain-induced landslides hit Catanduanes

LIGAO CITY — Several roads in Catanduanes province remained impassable due to major landslides caused by the incessant rains on Friday.

In Bato town, landslide debris blocked the road in Oguis village.

Motorists also found it difficult to pass through the national highway at Barangay Puraran in Baras town due to a landslide.

“So far, clearing operations are ongoing,” Camille Gianan, Catanduanes information officer, told the Inquirer in a chat message.

She said Gov. Joseph Cua also ordered all personnel from the provincial social welfare and development office to conduct relief operations in isolated areas immediately. INQ
