LUCENA CITY — Several towns in Quezon province suspended classes at all levels in public schools due to continuous rains brought by the shear line on Friday.
The Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office announced that classes from pre-school to high school in the towns of Atimonan, Calauag, General Luna, Guinyangan, Mulanay and Tagkawayan, and classes at all levels in Pitogo and Catanauan had been suspended as of 12: 30 p.m.
It also warned of possible flash floods or landslides in hazard-prone areas.
In the island town of Perez, Mayor Charize Marie Escalona has also suspended classes at all levels in public schools, including daycare centers.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its morning weather bulletin, predicted that the northeast monsoon would trigger rain in Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, and Marinduque.

Pagasa also raised gale warnings over the following areas: Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Northern Quezon including Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, the northern coast of Camarines Sur, northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes, the eastern coast of Albay, the eastern coast of Sorsogon, northern and eastern coasts of Samar.
