287 areas across PH still flooded due to continuous rains — NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 287 areas across the country remain flooded as of Friday due to continuous rains since the start of the new year due to different weather systems, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
The shear line, low pressure areas, and the northeast monsoon have continuously triggered rains over different parts of the country since the holiday season.
In its latest report, the NDRRMC said a total of 1,058 areas were flooded recorded.
Eastern Visayas has the most number of still flooded areas with Among 121, followed by the Bicol region (83) and the Zamboanga Peninsula (30).
Central Luzon has 18 areas that are still flooded, while Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) has 13, Central Visayas 10, Davao region 10 and BARMM 2.
Meanwhile, the council recorded 82 landslides across the country, including 29 in the Bicol region.
The death toll as of Friday still stands at 33, with 12 persons injured and seven others missing.
A total of 1,689,119 persons have been affected by the continuous rains, said the NDRRMC.
The NDRRMC also pegged agricultural losses at P414,347,212.6 3 while infrastructure damage was estimated at P206,956,824.68.
As of Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration forecast that the shear line will still affect parts of southern Luzon and Visayas, while the northeast monsoon will affect areas in Northern Luzon.
