The public should immediately report to their telecommunication provider if their subscriber identity module (SIM) card was stolen to avoid scammers using their identity, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said on Thursday. DICT Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo also reported at a Palace briefing that 21.78 million SIM cards in the country have already been registered as of Jan. 17. She said the DICT was working with the Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigation to set up one-stop shops in remote villages to allow the public to secure valid IDs required for the SIM registration. —NESTOR CORRALES
