Most of PH to continue experiencing overcast skies, rain due to shear line, amihan

Several parts of the country will continue to experience overcast skies with rainfall on Friday due to shearline and the northeast monsoon or amihan, state meteorologists said.

MANILA, Philippines — Several parts of the country will continue to experience overcast skies with rainfall on Friday due to shear line and the northeast monsoon or amihan, state meteorologists said.

In its Thursday weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the Bicol region, Quezon province, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Samar would experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to shear line or the weather system forming when cold and warm winds converge.

Amihan, a weather system caused by cold winds blowing from Siberia, will also bring cloudy skies with rains to Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Aurora.

On the other hand, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also experience fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Pagasa raised a gale warning in several seaboards in the country due to amihan.

The following seaboards will experience rough to very rough sea conditions with 2.8 to 4.5 meters of waves: Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Northern Quezon, Camarines Norte, the northern coast of Camarines Sur, northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes, the eastern coast of Albay, the eastern coast of Sorsogon, the northern and eastern coasts of Northern Samar and Kalayaan Islands.

“Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” Pagasa said in its gale warning advisory.
