Drug suspect falls, yields P6.8 million ‘shabu’ during buy-bust in Iloilo town
MANILA, Philippines — Some P6.8 million worth of crystal meth, locally known as shabu, was confiscated from a 20-year-old suspect in Iloilo, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Thursday.
Citing a report from the Iloilo regional police, the PNP said that suspect Matthew James “Toto Mat” Bacos was arrested at a beach resort in Barangay Barosbos in the town of Carles late Wednesday night after he had sold a plastic bag of shabu to an undercover police officer.
Authorities are tagging Bacos as a high-value drug suspect.
Police said they seized from the suspect eight big transparent plastic bags and 20 heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu.
It also said that Bacos would be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
