Woman dead in Negros Occidental fire

A suspected communist rebel was killed in a clash with government troopers in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY — A 74-year-old woman died in a fire Tuesday that destroyed her house in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified as Maolin Amblosa who lived alone in the house, said FO3 John Direck Villaruz of the Kabankalan City Fire Station.

Neighbors said the woman drank alcohol almost every day and would carry her kerosene lamp around the house when drunk.

Villariz said they were still investigating if the kerosene lamp caused the fire.
