MANILA, Philippines — Thirty three deaths have been reported as of Thursday as a result of recent widespread rains and floods due to the combined effects of low pressure areas, the northeast monsoon, and the shear line in the southern part of the country, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Zamboanga Peninsula logged the most number of fatalities with 11, followed by Northern Mindanao with 8.
In Eastern Visayas, seven people died, and five others perished in the Bicol region.
The Davao and Soccsksargen regions reported one death each, added the NDRRMC.
Meanwhile, the council said that 12 people were reported injured while seven are still missing.
The number of people affected by the widespread rains has reached 1,678,440 people, according to the NDRRMC.
Damage to the agriculture sector was pegged at P414,347,212.6 3 while infrastructure damage was estimated at P206,956,824.68.
