LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines — A total of 476 families composed of 1,883 persons were evacuated in Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte provinces due to flooding and landslides caused by continuous rainfall since Tuesday, Jan. 17.
In Calabanga town in Camarines Sur, 43 families composed of 152 persons were evacuated, and in six towns in Camarines Norte, 433 families composed of 1,731 persons were sheltered in evacuation centers, Gremil Alexis Naz, the spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense in, said in a 7:00 p.m. report Wednesday, Jan. 18.
Due to the continuous rainfall brought by a shear line, 132 areas were flooded in Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Sorsogon.
Naz said the floodwaters in some areas had subsided.
The 25 rain-induced landslide incidents rendered some roads impassable in different provinces.
In Mercedes town in Camarines Norte, Redundo Braga was injured after being hit by a falling tree on Tuesday.
On Canimog Island in the same town, two fishermen were still missing after a motorized banca capsized on Monday, Jan. 16.
