ANGELES CITY — The local government has established a redemption booth at the city hall compound here for its “Plastik Palit Bigas” project.

Under the project, plastic products collected by residents from their households and trash bins are exchanged for rice.

A kilo of collected plastic products like bottles is equivalent to a kilo of rice.

The city government said those who want to exchange their collected plastic for rice must bring valid identification cards proving that they are residents of this city.

It said the redemption booth is open from Monday to Thursday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

“The project aims to encourage Angeleño households to practice waste segregation at source, in their own homes, as well as to reduce if not eliminate the use of plastics,” it said. INQ
